Zlinx Addressing: Modbus Master-Slave Configuration
9XTEND SET-UP:
1. Install X-CTU software.
2. Install Zlinx series RTU configuration software.
3. Connect serial cable between PC and 9XTend modem.
4. Open X-CTU software.
5. Under “PC Settings” tab, select COM port for communications.

6. Select “Modem Configuration” tab, then “Read” to upload current modem parameters.

7. The settings shown in the above screen shot are all default settings, with the exception of the “Modem VID” number. If your
settings are not as shown above, select “Restore” button then “Read”. To confirm the new settings have been written to the unit,
select “Read” after “Restore”.
8. Once the settings match the above screen shot, set the “Modem ID” address to 10 hex. (All settings are in Hex.)
- There is a 16 hex offset between the 9XTend modem and the RT12-4444 module. The 9XTend settings are in hex and the
RT12-4444 settings are in decimal.
- Minimum 9XTend Modem VID is 10 hex, making the minimum RT12-4444 address a decimal 0.

RT12-4444 SET-UP:
1. Connect programming cable between PC and RT12-4444 I/O module.
2.
Under COM, select the PC communication COM port to be used.

3. Select “OK” then “Connect” to upload current RT12-4444 configuration settings. Review “Current Controller Settings”,
Wireless Type”, and “Third Party Protocol” settings.

4. Change settings in software to match the above screen.
5. Note – “Radio ID” is set using the “Modbus” tab at top of menu. See following screen shot.

6. Run Modbus software to communicate with RT12-4444 (Slave) module.
