Ethernet Media Converters for
industrial applications
Increase LAN distance and protect against interference
Route Ethernet signals through hostile RFI/ EMI environments and extend
distance up to 2 km by converting to fiber. The rugged and compact EMD
family of media converters transparently convert copper Ethernet to
multimode fiber optics.
The EMD Family operates in full-duplex, half-duplex or transparent mode.
In transparent mode, the copper segments will auto-negotiate the data rate in
half or full duplex mode as if the fiber link is not there.
Transparent mode will allow a fiber optic link between two 100BASE-TX
or 10BASE-T devices as well as between a 10BASE-T device and a
100BASE-TX device. In the latter case, the link will operate at 10 Mbps.
Model EMD-10FST is for use with 850 nm, 10 MB systems. Models
EMD-100FST and EMD-100FSC are ideal for 10/100 MB systems and
use the popular 1300 nm wavelength fiber.
