Triple Isolation Protection for Your Data and Equipment

B&B Electronics Ilinx series of RS-232/422/485 industrial converters and repeaters boast top notch, 3-way isolation for rugged industrial applications. Data ports are isolated from each other. Power supply is fully isolated with operation from 10V all the way up to 48V. With more installations having 48 VDC rails, you can take full advantage of your power rail and eliminate a power supply.

ROGUE CURRENTS

Spikes and Surges Can Garble Messages and Damage Electronic Components

Surges - what causes them
Rogue data signals can be caused by a minor power spike in an electrical circuit or a nearby lightning strike with more than half of all electrical surges caused by fluorescent lighting or gas-filled light bulbs. Eliminate rogue currents by inserting an optical isolator in your data line.

Isolation - how it works
Optical isolation converts a voltage signal to an optical signal before being converted back to a voltage signal. This process isolates voltage anomalies from the protected equipment.

Isolation - an industry must
Optical isolation is a requirement for commercial and industrial communications. Spikes and surges on data lines create havoc in industrial applications. If you get a surge at home or the office, you may have to reboot. An inconvenience.

But that same surge in a computer-controlled industrial application can shut down an assembly line or an entire plant. That's a disaster!

Adding an optically isolated converter, repeater or a stand-alone isolator from B&B Electronics stops damaging spikes and surges in their tracks.

 Fiber Optic Converters

Fiber to RS-232/422/485 Converters

Extend Communications Up to 9 Miles!

Any two pieces of asynchronous serial equipment can communicate at half or full duplex over two fibers at rates up to 460 kbps for RS-422/485 or 115.2 kbps for RS-232 with a pair of these converters. Fiber lines are inherently resistant to EMI/RFI and transient surges, so they are ideal for data communications near heavy electrical equipment and other electrical or radio interference.

Standards can be mixed and matched so RS-232 devices can be connected to RS-422/485 devices, replacing a converter and isolator. When working with RS-485 signals, B&B Electronics’ Automatic Send Data control eliminates the need for driver software. Serial connections are on terminal blocks; multimode fiber side has two ST connectors. Requires external power supply not included.
