Optical isolation is recommended in industrial applications for protection against damage from ground loops and to increase system reliability in any harsh environment. Model 3PCIO1 provides optical isolation with a wide range of configuration options. The PCI card, model 3PCIO1, is plug and play. The serial port can be configured for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 connections.
All of B&B's other popular features can be found as well. The card directly supports baud rates up to 460.8kbps, and the Quadruple Clock Speed option is included for compatibility with earlier B&B cards. Enhanced Address Decoding is included, plus IRQ sharing capability to minimize hardware conflict potential. Automatic Send Data Control takes the hassle out of RS-485 communication by transparently handling the RS-485 driver enable and disable functions. The 16950A UART is used.
Model 3PCIO1 is a single port version with a male DB9 connector. The DB9 is configured as a standard DTE serial port in RS-232 mode.
