Surge Protectors are used to protect equipment from large voltage spikes such as lightning or other transients. This surge protector offers three stages of protection starting with a gas discharge tube followed by a series of resistors and finally a TVS for each supported line. Housed in a metal box with two metal mounting brackets and two terminal posts makes an earth ground connection easy. The high energy surge protector units have been tested to two specifications at 6kV, IEC 1000-4-5: 1995 "Surge Immunity Test" and IEEE C62.41-1991 "IEEE Recommended Practice on Surge Voltages in Low-Voltage AC Power Circuits." The Model 232HSP protects pins 2 through 8 and 20. Pin 1 is tied to the metal box and passes straight through the unit. The 232HSP has a DB25 female connector on the equipment side of the unit and a DB25 male connector on the line side.
