CART
and B&B Electronics Join Ottawa, IL – A new pit lane CCTV/data connection allows teams to tap directly into the official CART Timing and Scoring and closed circuit TV. This provides teams with instant race information from the tower. Console boxes along the pit wall allow teams to link computers directly into the official T&S stand. CART supplied software shares the race data in real time on team computer screens. The Milwaukee Mile installation is the baptism of the new system. The hardware for the new data distribution system came from B&B Electronics in Ottawa, Illinois. Working with CART officials, B&B produced a custom RS-485 data distribution cable system to provide a strong data signal along the entire length of the pits, despite the electrical interference produced by the racing engines. B&B Electronics specializes in data communication systems for industrial automation and business applications. They also produce the AutoTap® OBD II scanner, a diagnostic tool for home and small shop mechanics. B&B Electronics was founded in 1981 and has 84 employees. A recent building program has more than doubled the space of B&B's engineering, tech support and data processing departments, paving the way for substantial future growth. #########
