Super Compact Industrial Ethernet Switch Ottawa, IL – Scarcely larger than the six RJ-45 ports on its face, this miniature Industrial Ethernet switch fits neatly into industrial control boxes. The switch divides the network into five separate collision domains. It functions as a "bridge" between the various data links, creating a larger network diameter than can be achieved with repeating hubs. This provides reduced network loading, eliminates data collisions and increases determinism. This is an industrial hardened unit, not to be confused with light duty office products. Its compact DIN rail mount case is 3.1 x 2.9 x 1.5in (7.9 x 7.4 x 4.0cm). Redundant power sources, 10-36VDC or 8-24VAC, may be used. All ports are shielded. One port can be used as an uplink port to connect two switches together, eliminating the need for a crossover cable. Each port automatically negotiates its data rate, 10Mbps or 100Mbps. The flow control mechanism is also negotiated. LEDs on each port indicate activity, link and data rate.
