(815) 433-5100 x241 e-mail: rfosbender@bb-elec.com March 17, 2004 For Immediate Release: 8-Port Industrial Ethernet Switch Provides Full Features, Network Economy Ottawa, IL – This new Ethernet Switch from B&B Electronics acts as a traffic cop to direct messages from the LAN to one of eight ports. It reduces network traffic by routing the message only to the appropriate device. The unit is designed for building automation, point-of-sale, ATMs, kiosk displays, warehouse control and many other monitoring and control applications. Model EIP308 Industrial Ethernet Switch is feature rich, but still has a value price. The LAN load indicator, a series of LEDs, shows the approximate load percentage on the network, aiding system diagnostics. LEDs show speed and activity on each port, plus Power On. The switch auto-detects full/half duplex and 10/100 Mbps. It has a store-and-forward scheme for packet transfer, automatic address learning, aging and migration. A large 256k shared frame buffer and 2k MAC buffer enhance the switch’s performance. The unit is designed for plug and play installation. Its rugged metal case will mount either flat or vertically on a panel or, with optional adapters, on a DIN Rail. It is fully IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3.3x compliant as an unmanaged Layer 2 switch. Power can come from any 9-30 VDC or 24 VAC source and redundant DC inputs guard against power loss. Model EIP308 Ethernet Switch made by B&B Electronics Mfg. Co., Ottawa, IL. Cost is about $300.
