Release - AutoTap® for Windows Version 2.0 Ottawa - B&B Electronics Mfg. Co., makers of the AutoTap® OBD II scantool, has announced the upcoming release of the next generation AutoTap software for Windows. AutoTap V2.0 software introduces a completely new user interface, providing users with outstanding customization capability as well as improvements in performance and ease of use. "We've been listening to our customers and have responded with a totally new software package. This new software platform provides us with the base to build future releases. This was a ground-up effort", states Mike Fahrion, AutoTap Product Manager. V2 software is a free upgrade for all existing AutoTap customers. It will be available for download from www.AutoTap.com in early July. New Generic Version available at a lower price New AutoTap customers will now have the option to purchase a version of AutoTap that supports Generic data and all powertrain DTC's. "Our DIY customer base doesn't always need the power of our enhanced parameter database. When troubleshooting a problem, often all that's needed is trouble codes and basic real-time data. We've responded by releasing a low-cost version of AutoTap that supports all generic and enhanced DTC's as well as generic-only real-time data. We've found that the low-cost hand held scantools fall short because they only offer generic trouble codes. Too often, this reveals only part of the vehicle's problem. We felt it was critical to offer all DTC's to customers, even in our entry level product", says Mike Fahrion.
